What are the study hours like?

        DIPLOMA

        Full-time

        Classes run 5-days a week between 9am to 6pm, although evening classes may be scheduled between 6pm and 9pm. Students may also be required to be on-campus during weekends / evenings for projects and replacement classes.

What is the medium of instruction?
Both Bahasa Malaysia and English are the official language of instruction at MIIM with classes taught in either language. During final examination, students are allowed to answer in either Bahasa Malaysia or English.

Is it important for a student to have a good command of English?

Yes, it is. Although only 50% of classes are taught in English, most reference materials are in English. Furthermore, in the media industry a good command of English is highly desirable.

        • Overall band score of 6.5 and above, with minimum individual band score of 6.00 in IELTS
        • Qualified diploma students will go straight into the final year of the Bachelor of Communication Studies (BCS) course
        • 1 year in Auckland
        • Total expenditure approximately RM 50,000

        Murdoch University

        Perth, Australia

        • Average of B or better / CGPA of 3.00 and above
        • Qualified Diploma in Broadcasting students will go straight into the final year of the BA in Media Studies course
        • 1 year in Murdoch

What career prospects are available for MIIM graduates?

In general, the career prospects in broadcasting and multimedia is becoming better and better. With the Multimedia Super Corridor and the "boom" in the broadcasting industry, there are now more job prospects in the Communication industry than ever before.
       
MIIM Diploma courses prepare students for the following careers:

        DIPLOMA

        Broadcasting

        Careers in production with TV stations, Production houses or advertising agencies as assistant producers, production and camera crew, post production assistants, scriptwriters, etc.

        Broadcast Management

        Careers in management / administrative functions within TV stations or production companies

        Integrative Journalism

        Careers as journalists for TV / Radio stations as well as print (newspaper / magazine) media.

        Media Studies

        Careers in public relations / advertising / media communications / marketing.

        Corporate Communication

        Careers in any organisation as specialists in corporate communication, public relations or brand management

        Multimedia

        Careers in multimedia design and animation

        Visual Communication

        Careers in communication design with advertising companies, print media and production companies

        Multimedia & Multimedia System

        Careers in multimedia and animation design and programming with advertising companies or e-businesses

        Visual Communication

        Careers in communication design with advertising companies, print media and production houses.

        Digital Image Creation

        Careers in animation design or illustration with multimedia production companies or advertising agencies.

        Careers as photographer or videographer in the media industry.

Are MIIM’s courses / qualifications recognised?

MIIM is recognised by the Malaysian Ministry of Education. We have 5 courses which have been approved by Lembaga Akreditasi Negara (LAN).

What is the normal class size ?
For each subject, students are required to attend one lecture and one tutorial a week. The lecture is open to all students who sign up for that subject. For tutorials, students are divided in groups of between 15 to 25.
